Villanova University Mission & Ministry, viewed online September 2, 2014 Augustinian Historical Institute (The Augustinian Historical Institute of Villanova University serves as a resource center for the study of the history of the Augustinian Order. Besides maintaining an extensive collection of materials on the history of the Order, we publish scholarly books and articles on these topics along with some studies of St. Augustine. Through the inspiration and labors of Arthur J. Ennis, O.S.A., the Institute was established at Villanova University in 1971 with a large part of the collection of the former Augustinian Historical Institute established earlier by Francis Roth, O.S.A. at Riverdale, N.Y. The Institute was officially opened on April 6, 1973.
